10 Raw Materials Of Vacuum Cleaner Parts

Vacuum cleaner divides into several parts, the appearance part and the function part. The appearance part is very important as the face of the vacuum cleaner, and a good appearance will attract the attention of many buyers. Therefore, there are certain principles to be pursued in the selection of the appearance materials of the vacuum cleaner.

  1. The first thing needs to consider is that the strength of the material, because as the appearance part of vacuums, it is inevitable to stumble during use.
  2. The second is the appearance characteristics of the material itself. As an appearance component, it must have a strong sense of beauty in terms of vision.
  3. Furthermore, it is the cost requirement. While achieving the above two purposes, try to have a low costing.

1.  (ABS)

As the most common engineering plastic, ABS has good comprehensive performance, and the appearance of the mold can be mirror-like after polishing. The serial numbers 1 to 3 in the following figure are common appearance parts, and ABS can be selected. The serial number 2 can be selected from ABS, Electroplating process makes the product brighter.

2. (POM-Polyoxymethylene)

Part 4 is a slidable part, which is a release button, and has movement and life span requirements, so POM (polyoxymethylene) or ABS can be used. Many moving parts in vacuum cleaners can choose POM because POM has high hardness and self-lubricating , which is not easy to stuck. However, POM has a problem that the surface painting or silk screen printing is unreliable and easy to fall off, so this point needs to be considered when choosing this material as an appearance part.

3. (Transparent ABS/Transparent PC) 

Part 5 is the dust cup. The dust cup is often made of transparent as a part for storing dust, because the user can watch the cyclone through the dust cup, which has a very high ornamental value. Generally, we select transparent ABS which is cost-effective. Some high-end models will use transparent PC as the material. Compared with transparent ABS and transparent PC has higher transparency, wear resistance and higher hardness..

4. (PC+ABS)  

PC/ABS is called plastic alloy, which is the product of mixing ABS and PC in proportion. This material has high comprehensive performance, which combines the advantages of ABS and PC, and crystallizes after the shortcomings are complemented. This material can be used for products with high strength requirements for appearance, which generally appear on high-end models because the price of materials is high.

5. (PP-Polypropylene)  

PP is also widely used in vacuum cleaners, mainly on internal parts. The internal structural parts do not have high requirements on appearance, we can use PP material. PP material has good toughness and better temperature resistance than ABS, but it will become brittle after freezing and easily broken after falling.

6. (TPE injection molding or encapsulation)  

TPE material is thermoplastic elastic rubber, which is mainly used on handles and sealing rings. Generally, the outer layer of the handle is covered with a layer of TPE soft rubber with a hardness of about 70HRC, providing users with a comfortable touch. The sealing ring mainly adopts the TPE injection molding process, which has good elastic effect.

7. (PA+GF) Nylon and glass fiber are commonly used as motor brackets and roller brushes because of their high wear resistance and high temperature resistance. The roller brush body needs to withstand the continuous impact of high-speed dust and particles, the strength is very high, and PA6+30GF is generally used in the industry. The bristles on the brush body are also made of nylon.


8.(Iron-Based/Copper-Based Powder Metallurgy)

Powder metallurgy materials are formed by pressing copper powder or iron powder by a mold, which has the characteristics of high precision and lubrication. It is mainly used in the vacuum cleaner to match the position of the large wheel shaft with the shaft. The use of this material can not only increase the walking life of the wheel, but also reduce the noise of the wheel walking. It is a good material. The low-end vacuum cleaner will change the powder metallurgy bushing to POM to save cost.

9. (Metal parts)

The most commonly used metal parts in vacuum cleaners are SUS304, Q235, SUS301, 45 steel, aluminum, etc. These materials are generally used where there is mechanical movement or where the fit is very precise. Electroplating or electrophoresis is often added as a characteristic of metal to rust.

10. (Rubber)

Silicone, EPDM and other applications are also very common. The main occasion is to use it on the shock pad to reduce the vibration of the motor.
